Spring Micro CSUSB Blog #5

Do you take advantage of all the student "discounts" available to you from CSUSB? Why or why not?

60 comments:

  1. No, I didn't. Since almost all the “discounts” are just for citizen; as a foreigner student, I hope I can enjoy the “discount”, but I don't have the chance...

  2. Umm i like to say i do. But with so many there is no way to keep track of all of them. When do know of one i do try i mean anything to save money but its impossible to know each and every one. I would like to know of more so if anyone knows of any other discounts that can help save money let me know:)

  3. I do not take advantage of many of the discounts at all. I do not know about many of them. Some of the reasons for this is that I don't read the school emails unless it is directed to be personally. also, I don't read posters around the school or the community. I just don't look for any discounts so I do not even realize that they are around.

  4. Hell yeah I do! I didn't know that you had to be a US citizen to use the student discounts though. I use the discounts every time I eat near the CSUSB campus. Places like Quiznos and Carl's Jr give types of student discounts. I also use my student ID to get discounts at Movie theaters and local billiards halls. I also use the free admission to home sport games.

  5. Yes i do, but sadly I am too broke to afford anything even with the discount

    ReplyDelete
  6. I dont use the student discounts, since i rarely have time to do anything. My parents came down from Seattle and I went to go check what the difference would have been on buying the disneyland tickets at school or at the park, and the difference was 6 dollars and I could purchase 260$ worth of tickets, to much of a hassle.

  7. No, I did not. Actually, I paid much money than any other students who are U.S citizen. I paid about 7,000 bucks each quarter for class and dorm. And I use wells fargo back card, so I do not use CSUSB students card for paying something. Because of this, I cannot get any "discounts" from school, near restaurants, or anywhere can get discount. I hope that school extend many other services for foreign studetns

  8. I don't know many of the student discounts that are available, but when I do get informed about a student discount I do take advantage of them. When it comes to saving money I'll go for it.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I try to take advantage of most of them and then I am barely finding out that their is a lot of them. I like saving money in case of emergencies and stuff so anything that save money is good.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Actually I don't really know what kind of discount do we have. I didn't pay attention on this before. So the answer is "No" I guess. Maybe later on I will go and check that out, so that I can save some money down the road.

  11. If I knew of all the discounts I would use them in every opportunity given to me. Any way to save money is really great, some may call it stingy but I call it economical. Unfortunately, I have to honestly answer no to this questions since I haven't used any of the student "discounts" because I never knew we had any besides the typical ones at the movies.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I would say for the most part I do not use the student discounts. Most of the ones I knew of were local discounts, and as a commuter I typically do not spend much time around CSUSB. Although, until now I did not know about any of the Disney discounts so I think I'll have to look into the other discounts offered.

  13. Well if we call it a "discount" refering to the gym usages and health center and getting our id pictures then, I do take advantages of the discounts. Why? because I'm paying for those services through my tuition. In the end rather i use those "discounts" or not i still get charged for them, so you can say it is not a real discount. As far as student discount for food at the village I do take advantage of that, and using the discount at the ASI box. Other than those items I'm not sure how many more discounts we have.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I try to take advantage of our school discounts, but I'm not really sure what student discounts are available. The ones that I do know of I take advantage of.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I dont take advantage of very many of the discounts because i do not know what discounts are available. Im not on campus outside of class long enough to use many of them anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Just like everyone else, I would definitely take advantage of all the discounts we get as CSUSB students if i knew what they were! Since I'm practically clueless of what these discounts are, I don't use them. If anyone knows some good ones, share the love, let me know. Thanks!

  17. I definitely do not take much advantage of the alleged discounts CSUSB offers. The only ones I know about are the Disneyland n other park tickets but they aren't very good discounts. I use my student discount occasionally, there are a
few movie theaters and select stores that honor a small student discount. Maybe if I knew of more, I would take advantage of them.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I really don't know about many student discounts to use them. I just found about the discount at Carl's Jr. from reading this blog, so I might use that. I know we get discounts on theme park tickets if we by them through the school, but I have yet to use that. I try to save money where ever I can so the more I know, I will use it!

  19. Most of the time I do. I try to take advantage of all the student "discounts" since I'm already paying for most of them. Since i just transferred last semester I just recently found out that I'm paying a lot of things that i didn't even know existed. I was wondering why the scan trons in the student union were "free".

    ReplyDelete
  20. I would like to say I do, but the truth is that I dont really take advantage of my student ID.. I have only used it for a couple of times but besides that.. I dont know where I can get "discounts"

    ReplyDelete
  21. I take advantage of my student discounts as much as i can. I use it at Del Taco and Carls Junior when i eat there. I use it to get dicounts on my insurance, cell phone bill and the movies. I am always getting free scantrons and blue books from the student union. I also enjoy the fact that we have free and unlimited acess to the gym. its really free but its cheaper than having to pay for another gym.

  22. I do and dont, it just depends which ones i really need or want. I took advantage of the snowboarding discounts they offered for student this winter. I also do get discount off my cell phone bill. If i knew of more maybe i would use them more

    ReplyDelete
  23. yes i do take advantage of most of the discounts the school gots to offer. such as the movie tickets and also some of the free events that are held at SB.

    ReplyDelete
  24. No I don't partly because I don't know what student discounts we have. When I go to the movies I rarely say student ticket which is a dollar or two off.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well i didnt even know we had discounts but now that i do i will take advantage of this discounts since we are broke students. I was going to use one of the discounts for a sixflags ticket but I found out that buying the tickets online was going to be $5 cheaper so I dont think we really get discounts thats why I dont even look at the discounts now. :(

  26. These days in a recession we have to take advantage of all discounts in order to live at the same level we did a few years back. I do take advantage of csusb discount. Well, the ones that I am aware of. When I go shopping or to restaurants we always ask if they offer discounts. When I take my parents out I get them senior discounts, AAA, AARP,.When I am aware of these discounts I do take full advantage of them. Money is tight.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I try to take advanteges of all discounts for students. I do that to save money but i don't really know all the discounts I miss. I think I should know more about these discounts.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I try to but I really don't know about that many. I definitely get the student discount for movies though because those are ridiculously expensive and if I can save 50 cents, I will!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yes i do. Almost everywhere i go i ask if they have a student discount. Most student discounts i have came accross are at movie theaters. But other then that, i try to save money any way that i can.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yes, I do! For example, I save a few extra bucks at the movies if I attend on a Thursday night or buy the tickets from the ASI box office. Many restaurants also offer discounts, and I love it when they do, because it saves me money as well. I can very well save money this way on things I end up needing later.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I never try to take advantage of student "discounts" during the life that I stay in US. But I know somewhere can use the student ID and then can get some discounts. Like Charter, we can use ID get student discounts. It is much cheaper than usually. But I did not take that. Also we can get the discounts from Movie theaters. I will try in future.

  32. I do not take advantage of the Student discounts. I am aware that there are Student Discounts but I dont need them. I communte to school , so I pack my lunch and try to not use any money necessary out of my city. I dont attend the movies or use the school's gym. I mostly go to school then off to work , I have no time to look for the discounts.

  33. I don't think that I take advantage of the discounts. I'm not a regular student. I'm an open university student and an international student. Therefore, even though I want to take advantage, I can't use it. However, I think that there is a discount that I can use. I'll try to use it in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  34. No. No I do not. Not because I'm too snobby to use the discount or because I'm so broke that I wouldn't be able to afford anything even with the discount, but because I'm essentially a hermit. As soon as my last class is over I rush my ass back home and stay there, only ever going out to run errands and the such never really giving me the opportunity to use that discount. Hooray for staying indoors so much you develop a violent allergy to sunlight! Yay!

    ReplyDelete
  35. First of all Im not that aware of the student discounts that we have at school. I don't take "advantage" of them. But normally the discounts they have are for theme parks or the movies, and with this staggering economy I rather save my money on necessities that I need for gas, and etc.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Normally, I won’t intent to consume certain items or perform particular activities for the only purpose that it is discounting unless it is truly accorded to what I desired or planed to do. In other words, the discounting behavior provided in the school, in the most of time, would not so much absorb my attention except it is the thing what I need to buy or consume at that time that is discounting. For example, there is no possible for me to buy a discounted hamburger when I was not hungry or equally, buy a discounted book which is useless to me at current time. In this way, I am believed that I will not accept all the discounted policy in the university. In my opinion, the discount has been associated with incentives. The principle is still that the incentive matters. When having incentives to consume or do certain things, no matter it did discount or not, people are able to buy or consume the stuffs. Even if it had been discounted to a large extent, it is possible that people will not take the profit of discount if the incentives failed. In general, with the majority of time, I will take the discounted products whenever I really intend to buy or consume such things in school.

  37. i personally do take advantages of the student discounts because it saves me money that i know i will need later.
as well that when i use these discounts i know will help out my fellow students.

  38. I am not completely aware of all the "discounts" that students are offered. I know our fees go towards paying for the gym and health center (the gym I used last quarter, but I have yet to use the health center), but I am not aware of what other services our fees either completely pay for or heavily discount.
I personally do not often spend money on things I don't see as a necessity (such as gas, food/water, and clothing), so I would not use any discounts offered unless they happened to match my needs.
I wish there were a page on the school's website that listed all the free services or discounts we students have available to us. That would make finding and using the services and discounts much easier.

  39. Yes if it has a big discount I would take advantage of it . Like there are some stuff that are sold in the university like laptops or Apple materials like I-pods or Macbook it has a discount for CSUSB students which is a good deal and I take advantages for this because its an offer only for CSUSB students.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The only things I take advantage of is the campus Rec Center, and discounts at the movie theaters. I wasn't really aware that I could get discounts anywhere else. However, by reading some of these blogs I will now take advantage of discounts at quiznos and other fast food places as well.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Well.. I don't think I take any advantages of discount from this school.. Actually I didn't know that those kinds of discounts existed, and also I have never taken advantage of discounts at anywhere. Just only two things that I take are the school gym and the airplane ticket.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Of course I do, my friend and I usually go watch movie on Thursday night. Because if you show up your student ID you will get a discount. Also if you eat outside around camps, like some fastfood restauants you will get discount. It is great for us, you can save a lot of money!

    ReplyDelete
  43. sometimes yes some times no i think because i usually go to watch movie at thursday night. i can get discount with i bring my csusb coyote. other way, i did not go to gym so much because i do not have enough time to do exciese.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I do! I believe every penny counts and I love to save! For example, I can go to the ASI box office and get discount ticket to Disneyland or I can go to most businesses and receive discounts. This is one perks of being a college kid!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I take advantage to any students discount for opportunities and programs offered on campus, or within distance for the campus. I believe as student attending college, there weekly discounts that I'm able to obtain, as well as others discounts I miss due to academic purposes, or AFROTC conflicting events. I'm very grateful to be able to receive discount as the privilege of being the student, especially when the are offered through CSUSB. Many students are paying for within their tuition for the different activities created by the ASI Office, membership at the gym, as well trips to the health center. One area I'm disappointed with various businesses around the campus. Fast food is a primary example, companies will allow you get free fries and/or drink when you buy a particular order on the menu after presenting a student I.D.

  46. No,I never heard that we have student discounts. I guess maybe I am an international student, so I can't take advantage of students discounts. I just bought the magic moutain tickets to go to the six flags at student union before. I don't know whether that is the student discounts.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I didn't take advantage of the student "discount", because i don't know we have any student "discount". I just know we can use student ID to get discount in cinema. Maybe I will take advantage in future.

    ReplyDelete
  48. no I don't take advantage of all the student discounts like I should. Mostly due to the fact that I forget that there is even a student discount for half the things that are out there. Also because a lot of discounts require you to do certain things like buy items at certain places and go to certain stores which most the time I don't think is worth the effort. The discount is not worth enough to me usually to go out of my way to receive the benefits.

    ReplyDelete
  49. CSUSB offers a variety of discount or free things to students on campus. Something as the Student union giving out green scantrons and blue books can come in handy when you don’t have the time to run all the way to the Coyote bookstore. If you are involved in student organizations on campus, Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) offers organizations CAB Funding to place events on campus. They range from funding to buy shirts to funding to buy food for their events. That is why your always hearing of events offering free food if you attend. Taking advantage of this has saved many organizations on campus thousands of dollars.

  50. Being new to csusb I wasn't even sure they had discounts here now i'm a little upset that I never got the chance to take advantage of them this year. Rest assured I will be researching and using them to my full advantage for next year.

  51. I'm not to sure if I really take advantage of all discounts. I know I use my school id when going to food places in the area for a discount. As far as on campus discouunts, I don't really know of any.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I try to take advantage of the discounts. I like the free scantrons on campus. Im usually late on the offers though. Some things i take advantage of is the asi box office. I love to buy movie tickets here.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I take advantage of as many discounts as I need. For example, if I'm know I'm going to the movies I'll buy my ticket here on campus and it's about $4 cheaper. On Friday's sandwiches and anything left over for the week from the Coyote market is only a dollar so I stock up on sandwiches and snacks for the weekend. They're things I'd already be buying and spending money on so I take advantage of the discounts available to me as much as possible.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I don't really take advantage nor do I know of any of the discounts because I live farther away from the school so I mostly just come for the education since the drive is the most time consuming part of my day. Maybe if I lived closer to the campus I may be more inclined to figure out ways I can save money from the school discounts.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yes! I always take advantage of CSUSB student discounts especially at Quizno's. I already live on a budget, so if I can get a discount from any place that will help me to save a little bit of money, I'll take the offer.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm not very aware of all the discounts offered, but the one I do take advantage of is the ticket booth. Movies and theme parks are alot more affordable there which comes in handy considering our economy.

    ReplyDelete
  57. The biggest discount that I take advantage of is the ticket booth. you get about 30% off of what you normally pay for at the movies or theme parks. It is a no brainer. I don't really know what other discounts are available to students. I know pollo loco does 10% off food but thats about it.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I take advantage of lots of student discounts available to me through csusb. for example i bought my mac laptop here cause we get a discounted rate, and i have used the asi box office countless times. i use the discounts available to me because my finances are on a budget, and wherever i can save a couple bucks i will. also we pay for these services with our tuition, so we might as well use them.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I tend not to take advantage of the student discounts besides when i go to the movies which is rare. My place of employment: Bank of America provides a lot more discounts that are applied on a more everyday basis ( cell phone discounts, car rentals, sporting events, etc.) Because thosse are more attractive incentives I side with my employer.

    ReplyDelete
  60. The one student discount that i do take advantage of is renting recreational stuff from the rec center at a very subsidized price. to rent a tandem kayak from anywhere else it would cost 40 dollars an hour. and i can rent it from the schools rec center for a whole weekend for 35 dollars. so yes i do take advantage of the discounts offered.
