Would you rather live in a country where goods and services were all cheaper but you had 50% fewer choices (in quality, taste, etc) or a country where goods and services were more expensive but you had unlimited choice? Why?

  1. I would rather live where there is an unlimited choice because that means the economy has more money to provide the unlimited choices. Also even though they are more expensive there is probably more job opportunity to make more money too.

  2. I would want to live in a country that was a little more expensive to live in and had a little more to choose from. When I shop for goods and services I dont like to cheap out on quality. I still shop around for the best price of the good or service, but I dont cheap out on quality just to save a dollar.

  3. I would rather live where goods and services are more expensive and unlimited. I think more expensive price goods and services are more valuable and better quality than cheaper them. In some cases, I do not care about prices if those are valuable. For example, I will buy Porsche car even though its price are more expensive than any other cars.

  4. I would like to live in a country where goods and services were more expensive but had unlimited choices. A country that has more expensive goods and services but has unlimited choices is implying a perfectly competitive market. The good things about this is that the firms will unknowingly create the benefit of being efficient with inputs to get the best output, therefore implying better quality goods and services. I like good quality goods and services.

  5. the first choice, as personally i am a simple (very cheap) guy, as long as there is a cheaper version of said product i want i am happy (such as buying Refresee instead of Coke)

  6. I feel biased towards this question because of what we discussed in class today, but I'd definitely have to say that I would rather live in a country where goods and services were more expensive but you had unlimited choice. Not only are we not getting a dead weight loss but as consumers we have better quality and more opportunities. This might be irrelevant, but it may be the case that there is a cap on the amount of businesses or a cap on the amount of goods that can be produced resulting in shortages. In addition, since the producers do not feel obligated to satisfy taste or quality, who knows what could be put into making our good or service thus making us worse off. I feel that it's necessary to have goods and services more expensive for these reasons.

  7. I would prefer to have the unlimited services with more choices to pick out of. There will be more money out there, more services more jobs.

  8. I prefer having more choices of goods and services, where I have the freedom to select whether I want more pricier goods or semi-cheaper goods. I wouldn't like being miserable with products or services I receive so I'm willing to pay the little bit of more money to have what I actually want. This discussion could go into domestic vs. foreign goods and imports/exports, but I'll just leave it at that.

  9. I would definitely rather live in a country where the goods/services are not only unlimited but expensive. My reasoning for this is because the quality would be better. Therefore, the certain Country would probably be remotely developed because it is wealthy, and therefore they would maintain a variety of jobs. Not only jobs but there would be a lot of open opportunities and "unlimited" can't go wrong with that the more the better!

  10. I value your honesty! Good thoughts revealing the premium we place on choice.

  11. I think I would choose to live in a country where goods and services are more expensive but unlimited. The reasons are even though the prices of the goods and services are more expensive, however you have a large range of selections. You will be able to find what you like and yes you may have to pay a little more but you can still get what you want with good quality. I think that if you really have to buy something then you just want to buy it, the price will be your second consideration.Besides a country with more market choices means a better economy environment. So I will stick up to my choice. Pay a little more, live a lot better.

  12. I like live in the country which is much cheaper not unlimited choices can be made. Because I use to this kind of life in China, and it is easy to get whatever I basically need spending a little bit costs.

  13. I would rather live in a country where there are unlimited choices. The reason for this being that even if the price is higher, i will have a large selection of choices and can pick the products that are best for me. I would hate to be limited to certain things just because they cost less. I am willing to pay that extra price for something that is better.

  14. The answer to this question would probably depend on your income level. My choice would be fewer choice if I was living in poverty and could not afford an education for a better job. Living in a country where you have the options of education and lifestyle I would prefer more more expensive goods with unlimited choices. But, I guess having the choice is always better. We don't always want to have to purchase lead toys from China. Or, have a superstore like Walmart selling us low quality cheap products that last a week.

  15. I would rather live in an area with few choices at a lower price. As long as necessities are taken care of i dont believe i would mind. Expensive goods,(assuming quality is the same) are used as a tool to indicate social status as opposed to social necessity.

  16. I rather live in a country where goods and services were more expensive but you had unlimited choice because I believe having a choice is always better. It would be easier on me and there are a variety of choices that I would be able to choose from. I am willing to pay for a variety of selection.

  17. I would rather live in an area which was more expensive goods, yet on the upside has unlimited choices, because my taste, is different than others, and i prefer the quality of something rather than how low the price is.

  18. Well In all honesty I would go with the country where goods and services are more expensive but have an unlimited choice and verity. We experience it here in the United Sates. The reason I attend school is to get an education which will lead to an excellent careear path in which I want to see my self in the future. My goals will always be to achieve higher and better things in life. If I have the means to afford do to my hard work and afford I will do so. But that is just my opinion.

  19. I don't think picking a country with more expensive goods is better because just rich people are the only ones that would actually afford to do it. It just wouldn't be fair for all the middle and lower class they would be the ones to struggle the must. Even though a country with more expensive goods sounds better then one with cheaper goods I think is fair to the people to have a balance for all social status.

  21. well it depends to me on if jobs were available in either country. If it was impossible to find a job than i would rather be in a country that gave less options at lower prices but the opposite would be for a country that does have many jobs available.
if it was strictly up to me, I would rather have more options but pay more just because having options is always a good thing.

  22. id rather live in a country with unlimited choices. i wouldn't want to be stuck with less options and no independence

  23. I think i would want to live somewhere where we have an unlimited choices because i don't like when everything is the same i rather pay to have something different or unique. And because if we always have the same things it will get boring.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'd rather pay a little extra to have more choices, I hate being restricted and being told what I can and can't have. I'd rather have higher quality goods that will last longer than something that won't last long at all.

    ReplyDelete
  25. The way i see it better is that more expensive things with morre to choose from. The higher the price the more qaulity and the more to choose from means compitition which would make everyone better off looking for jobs.

  26. I would rather livein in a country where expensive goods but more chices because I want to enjoy to choose goods or services. I also want to choose better goods or services for me among a lot of choices.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I would choose the option with expensive goods with more choices because you have a better chance of choosing something you like. the other option sounds like something a communist would choose.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I would rather live where the goods were more expensive and there was more variety. Simply because I would pay more for something that met the criteria that I wanted for a good.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I would rather live in an economy where the good and services are unlimited because i like variety and the free will i have to get whatever i want. I would not want to go to a store that had the same shirts and pants because then everyone would be dressed alike. That fact that our economy has allows us to have unlimited goods and services is a privilege.

  30. I would rather where the goods are more expensive and have more variety. With more options, I would feel more comfortable in choosing the right ones for me and my family.

  31. I would choose in a country where goods and services were all cheaper, cause cheap goods and services make life more simple and people don't have to buy luxury to themselves. Sometimes the easy way is the best.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I rather live in a country with unlimited choices, pay more and have more varity. Sometimes being cheap is not always the best route to take. Then i would decided what is best for my faimly.

  33. I believe in having choices and a range of prices. Having unlimited choices is important because you are not satisfied by certain products and prices. Having the option to choose is important as a consumer.

  34. For me, living in a country where there are unlimited choices in goods and services despite of the expansive daily consumption has more advantages than staying in a country where the choices of goods and services are largely limited although the price charged is much lower. When I consider whether a country is better for me is how various goods and services are provided. Although in a country where goods and services are unlimited, the price are much higher because of the competition, it provides me more choices to purchase the same stuff, which always enables me to purchase a good with better quality. Although the price is much lower in a country where the goods and services are limited, the categories of goods and services are restrained by the fewer choices, which blocks the way consumers are able to buy what they really desire. The market for the consumer is inefficient because of the deterred consumer surplus.

  35. I rather live in a cheap country where prices is cheap. I now i have fewer options, but that will not be a problem. I am kind of a guy how buys the same things offer and offer. I will not benefit from these extra choices. Howeve, finding something that tast ok is the changle for me. When it comes to servies I think it will be a problem. If I got sick it will be important for me to go to a hospital where I can be treated well.

  36. I would choose unlimited choice one. even if i should cost more, it's better to have larger choice than not. Besides, in the situation many choices available, I believe that the cost will fall, the quality will improved over time, because there must be more competition to sell and attract custmomers among providers.

  37. I would like to live in a country where goods and services were more expensive but I had unlimited choice. Because the unlimited choice is very important to our lifes. Good economic conditions mean better living conditions. I believe people wants the good living conditions. So I select this one.

  38. I like to choose live in countryside because i can buy goods eventhough that is half than live in city.

  39. I would want to live in a country where things were cheaper and I would have few choices because not everything that is expensive is always better. With the money I would save on my items, I could use to provide a better life for my family.

  40. Personally I would prefer a world with cheaper goods with limited choice...Because honestly would we know the the difference if the world was like that? Would we say oh I wish I could have Burger King in a world that only knows McDonalds? Sometimes having such a wide range of choice limits our ability to consume since many of us have such a hard time making up our minds that we end up not buying anything in the end.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I would want the limited choices for a cheaper price. Just because their was a limited choice does not mean that the quality would be anything less, as long as the product was good would it matter that you had 5 choices and not 10.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Although the cost of living in California is higher than most other states in the U.S., I prefer living here because of our many choices. I would not chose to live somewhere else where it was cheaper to live but was offered fewer choices, these numerous choices also lead to numerous opportunity.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I would rather live in a country where goods and services were more expensive and with unlimited choice because i would get bored of the same old choices even if they are cheaper.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I would like to have more choices between goods and services mostly just because I like the idea of simply having a choice to choose what it is I want rather than to be limited. Although I do like to be conservative in the way that I spend my money, I wouldn't want to sacrifice quality and choices, etc to save money.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I would choose fewer choices for 50% off. My thinking on this is that, as long as the quality and choices aren't too poor, I will be happier with 50% off because that actually means more choices. I have more money to spend on other things. The more I save, the more choices I actually have. I would rather live in a country with fewer choices but for 50% less.

  46. I would like to live in a country where goods and services were more expensive but i had unlimited choice. Because when I buy some stuff, I have more choice to buy something I like, and the good quality also can let me us it longer time. If the price is cheaper, but the quality is bad, it's easy to broken, and I have to always buy new stuff, so I rather like i had unlimitef choice.

  47. I would like to live in a country where goods and services were more expensive but I had unlimited choice. Because I think more choice will make my life have more passion. I like cheaper price, but the good quality is bad that will make me crazy. For example, if I buy a computer in a lower price but after one month, it broke. I have to change a new one and this cause lots of troubles in life. And another reason should be more choice will give me more happiness. I like shopping and enjoying life which means more choice will let me find out surprise sometimes.

  48. Personally speaking , I would choose to live in a country that has higher price with a good quality because the product will be in a good shape with no manufactural conflicts or malfunctions and the length of products' qualities would last longer unlike in the cheaper countries .

    ReplyDelete
  49. I would rather live in a country where goods are priced a bit higher. The more selection the better. You would be able to shop around for what you really want and there would also be more competition. Therefore some companies would want to make sure that their product was actually good quality to take the other companies out of business.

  50. I would rather live in a country where goods and services were more expensive but had unlimited choices. I would choose this because of the unlimited choices. Since our country has a lot of people it is only obvious that we all have different tastes in goods. This way we all can have what we truly want.

  51. It would really just depend on what I have, if I have no finance issues then I would gladly go for the more expensive but more varied option, however with this student budget I'd most likely be aiming for the cheaper option, though it's not as good of a quality it fulfills it's purpose and need.

  52. I would choose the one with more choices and more expensive because it is my preference. In both societies you have the free will to not purchase any goods or services if you dont want to,and one society has the option of the quantity goods. Everyone has different preferences, I dont mind being a little more expensive.

  54. I'd rather have the better quality products with more options even if it means to have to pay more. Although there are times I'd rather just be cheap pay less, in the long run it's more beneficial to have better quality products; quality over quantity! I'm such a picky person too so I'd rather have many options to choose from as well.

  55. I would rather live in a country with an infinite amount of choice and higher prices than have lower price and no choice. it is important to me that i have a choice in the goods that i buy and not feel like i am forced to buy a specific good. plus the extra money spent is going towards quality and personal taste, and not what a company wants you to buy.

  56. Well as an American I love having the freedom to make choices on goods and services so naturally I wouldn't be comfortable in a society were there were fewer choices rather than having many choices. I don't mind paying a little bit more for the things I like

  57. I would rather live in a place where goods and services were more expenses but I had more options. More options encourage people to constantly spend because they won't be getting the same exact thing over and over. People will still have to spend regardless. The economy would flourish more because people prefer having several options rather than few options and more options means more newer things.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Althought I love the city very much with its diversity and so many options to chose from, I would say I prefer to live in the country with cheaper prices and fewer things to chose from. The society that we live in has trained us to always want more and the "new" things. We are never satisfied. I would and do spend more living in the city because growing up in this generation, I always want more. For example, if there is a new chapstick in town and it is the best thing anyone can ever have, I would want that chapstick along with the many other varietes of color, taste and smell. Even after owning the item for a couple of days and the chapstick company comes out with a new one. An urge to own that new chapstick is present. I believe living in the country with fewer choices and cheaper prices is better for the good and for the buyer. When there is too many to chose from AND it is expensive, you'll only end up with the item your happy with at the moment and a headache and disappointed and being unsatisfied will follow when you no longer want the product because you want the "newer" and "better" one.

  59. I feel that I would benefit overall within a country where goods and services were more expensive with unlimited choices. The country would have an effective revenue of earning profit. I strongly believe that with unlimited choices, the goods would believe that with unlimited choices , the goods would be available globally/universally rather than one specific location or company with the manufactured good. During class, we brought up an excellent point that where would be only "one" type or size which wouldn't be as highly demanded as the supply available. Systems are great for government and countries to apply within goods, however the restriction to certain goods are unnecessary due to different forms of complications.

  60. I would rather live in a country where the goods were cheaper & 50% choice was given because I could adapt to that type of lifestyle. When u have to survive, you adapt to whatever environment you live. Also it would save me a lot of money compared to the person who chose the more expensive route.
